Of all the beautiful babes in Bollywood, Katrina Kaif still remains Akshay Kumar’s numero uno choice as co-star.

Though Katrina is in the top league of Bollywood actresses today, she is seldom credited for it. Often we hear rants about how Katrina struck fame by cashing in on the popularity of a crowd-puller like Akshay Kumar .

But, may be, it worked the other way round too. That Akshay while being the star to which Kat hitched her wagon also benefited from her as a co-star. How otherwise could one explain Akshay’s failed jodis with the likes of Deepika Padukone and Ayesha Takia in the last two of his releases – Chandni Chowk To China and 8x10 Tasveer respectively.

Of course, today we know that Katrina Kaif is the film’s heroine and has already shot one schedule of the film and is currently filming its second schedule in Singapore. But she may not have landed the role if Akshay hadn’t recommended her to Priyadarshan.

The director confirms that Katrina was signed for ‘De Dana Dan’ after Akshay’s recommendation. He says he’s happy to have made that choice because, in his words, Akshay and Katrina share a “terrific chemistry on screen”.

Mallika Sherawat get “Arts Award” in New York

fter becoming the first Bollywood celebrity to have a milkshake named after her at the hotspot ‘Millions of Milkshakes’ in Hollywood city, Mallika Sherawat has now become the latest recipient of the prestigious “Arts Award” in New York.

The sexy actress was honoured recently for her unparalleled contributions to and influence with the Indian diaspora.

The event was organised by Honorable Jerramiah Healy, the Mayor of Jersey City and the New Jersey co-chair of President Barack Obama's primary campaign to honor the Indian community and its contributions to the United States.

Out of America's 100 largest cities, Jersey City has one of the largest percentages of South Asians. Area politicians, business persons, and members of the press attended the event.

As a congressional honoree, U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone (father of the India Caucus in the U.S. Congress), among others, also graced the event with his presence. Just a Quick Note

This is not craft related in any way, but I wanted to share my roses and day lilies with you. My roses have just exploded over the last week or so and are just beautiful! Given the number of buds, I can safely say they will continue to be beautiful for some time to come.


Also fun this last week or two, my day lilies have all bloomed out. I love how these yellow lilies just "keep on keeping on" all summer long.

Chirp! Chirp!

It seems that I owe my friend and neighbor Andrea another big thank you.... I entered the Thank You card I made for her to the Cricut Chirp! project spotlight and won!!! So.... to recap: Andrea made me an awesome wreath, I made her a thank you card, because she made me the awesome wreath, I win a new cartridge!!! Wow!

By the way, for those inquiring minds who will ask - I chose Lyrical Letters and I cannot wait for it to arrive!!!!!

Thank Goodness for Ice Cream Cones

The designers' challenge this week over at Bitten by the Bug was to use the Doodlecharms cartridge, any cut we wanted, as long as we used the border feature. You know the border feature - three of any item on a single key stroke. I actually planned a cute lady bug card, titled Always a Lady (ha, ha, ha), but then I just could not resist the ice cream cones. And the ice cream flavors!!!! And the chocolate cones!!! Okay, you get the idea. I don't just love my family, the cricut, scrapping, my pj's, and Hello Kitty... I love ice cream cones! Ice cream cones are OH SO MUCH better than ice cream in a dish!

As luck would have it, I also needed to make a thank you card. And guess what 6 ice cream cones gives you? Enough cones to spell THANKS!!! I used BasicGrey red paper to cut the letters with George. I wanted them to pop, but not to take over the card.


The card itself is cut in bright pink bazzil card stock. I used the border punch along the edge of the card, as well as the edge of an "under skirt" piece. I used two different ribbons, running vertically, across the background of the card. I also used the same two ribbons (and a flower) in the bow.


The ice cream cones were cut in two layers. The base cut was in bazzil brown, and the top cut was the ice cream only (mint chocolate chip, cherry chip, strawberry, vanilla, and strawberry with strawberries!). And of course a sparkling cherry on top of each cone.


I used stickles not only on the cherries and berry chips, but also on the diagonals on the cones. I think I should go right now and make a cone like the "A" cone, and then perhaps move on to the "K" cone!!!! Mmmmmmm.

New Vinyl Cut For My Honda Minivan

Remember some months ago when I cut the vinyl cricuts for my and my cricut loving friends vehicles? I decided to create a second vinyl cut featuring one of my other favorite things.... Hello Kitty!!


I used the Hello Kitty cartridge on the outline setting and created this cute decal... A couple of our friends and my co-workers call my minivan "the cricky-mobile". I wonder what the addition of Kitty will do to that label????

By the way - CLEARLY my cricky-mobile, the cricut cut AND Kitty need a bath... Yucky!

And no, we don’t mean the cold beverage made with blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream that’s named after the hot Bollywood actress and is available at ‘Millions of Milkshakes’ in west Hollywood.

Though, foodies who have greedily gulped it down, say wickedly that the Mallika Milkshake is as sinful as they imagine the real item to be! Not even Victoria Beckham and Paris Hilton, who share the dubious distinction of having milkshakes named after them at this Hollywood hotspot, have got such rave reviews.

But never mind milkshakes in America, tattlers are buzzing about recognition and honour coming Mallika’s way just like that in the US.

Bollywood's actress Priyanka Chopra's actual love interest continues.

Mumbai (IANS): She has been linked with three actors - Hurman S. Baweja, Shahid Kapur and Hollywood star Gerard Butler of "300" fame - all within a span of one year, but the mystery behind Bollywood's svelte actress Priyanka Chopra's actual love interest continues.

The rumour mills started working overtime after Butler, whom she met at the launch of the Atlantis hotel in Dubai last year, was quoted as saying in a leading daily: "I don't mind getting married to an Indian girl. Too bad Priyanka already has a boyfriend".

Now, who that boyfriend is, remains to be known.

Though rumours of a romantic liaison between Shahid and Priyanka have been in the grapevine lately after their joint appearance at filmmaker Tarun Mansukhani's birthday party in Mumbai last week, neither has confirmed the development.

The two will be seen together in Vishal Bharadwaj's "Kaminay".

"Priyanka has always maintained silence on her private affairs. Till date, she has never gone public about her personal life and she will continue to do so," a source close to the actress told IANS.

Even when news of her affair with her "Love Story 2050" co-star Hurman was doing the rounds, Priyanka remained politically correct. While Hurman was very vocal about their relationship as well as their break-up, the supermodel-turned-actress chose not to speak about it.

Now, the news about the friendship between Priyanka and Butler, who is currently in Jaipur, is raising eyebrows.

But the source clarifies: "He (Butler) is in Jaipur with four of his friends as part of an India tour.

"He came to Jaipur and knew that Priyanka was shooting and staying at Shiv Vilas for her film 'What's Your Rashee?'. So he came to the sets to meet her as they are good friends and to see what an Indian film shoot looks like. He also met all important people on the sets and was also introduced to Ashutosh (Gowariker) and Hurman. Priyanka and him are just friends only," the source said.

Butler, who played the role of King Spartan in "300", has also been linked to former "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston, which he has denied.

Saturday Scrapping Adventures

I have literally spent almost the entire day in my scrap room. I had five projects to create for a little venture I am involved in, as well as a birthday card, and as my husband reminded me at 8:00 pm, an ordination card for tomorrow morning!!!

First the birthday card: A special little girl that I know will be having a birthday next Sunday. Not wanting to wait till the last minute (unlike my other project), I made her card today. I used my nesties to frame the month and the vintage image.

As I said above, my husband reminded me this evening that we would need a card for tomorrow morning. A young woman who grew up with my older two children is being ordained tomorrow. She is an amazing woman, which is not surprising as she was always an amazing child. We are very proud to know her, very honored to have been able to watch her grow up, and blessed to be invited to this big event in her life! Congratulations Allison!!

I inked the white vellum before adhering it to the cross so that it would have a bit more dimension. Inside I added a pocket for a gift card so that it would not show through the vellum. I finished the card off with Prima Mullberry Paper flowers and gem brads.

I really wish that I could share the other projects I worked on today; they came out so nicely. I designed and cut three total cricut layouts, and two really, really pretty cards. All together today I used 14 cartridges!! I cannot believe I used that many cartridges in one day!!!

Julie came to see me! After TWO years! yay yay yay. We were very happy to get to hang out together, play piano(though she's alot better than me), go for our long walks, eat ice-cream, and just be plain foolish!
I'm gonna miss her when she leaves again.
We really must make a trip together.
